The AASM regularly reviews and updates the Standards for Accreditation of Sleep Disorders Centers to ensure that they reflect the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
All accredited sleep centers will be required to have a medical director who is board certified in sleep medicine effective January 1, 2016. Accredited centers have until this date to be compliance with this requirement. As a reminder, the medical director can be board-certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine, a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties, or a member board of the American Osteopathic Association.
