The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) a formal, evidence-based comment in response to its review of the national coverage determination (NCD) for the diagnosis of patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) requiring continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).

CMS recently announced it will convene the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) to consider the National Coverage Determination for CPAP Therapy for OSA (CAG-00093R2).

The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2007, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT at CMS Headquarters in Windsor Mills, Md.
