Course Description
This course has been developed to help attendees effectively manage a sleep center that maintains a focus on effective patient care. During the course, faculty will discuss a variety of practice management issues within their areas of expertise. Attendees will receive valuable information throughout the course regarding issues of reimbursement, portable monitoring, integrating DME, start-up considerations, quality control, accreditation and more.
Target Audience
This course is intended for sleep medicine health care professionals and business managers interested in the business practices, economic, legal, political and social aspects of running a sleep disorders center as well as individuals who recently have, or are considering, opening a sleep disorders center.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to:
- Discuss issues pertinent to the opening and operation of a sleep care facility;
- Integrate new information and updates essential to the operation of a sleep disorders center;
- Integrate new technologies in the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders; and
- Review legislative and regulatory issues, both new and on the horizon, which establish legal standards and may affect the operations of a sleep disorders center.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The Business of Sleep Medicine course has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Their Elements of the ACCME by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
The AMA Council on Medical Education mandates that accredited providers only offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ to physicians. The AASM will issue non-physicians a letter of attendance for activities designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine designates the Business of Sleep Medicine course as a live activity for a maximum of 14.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
