These are answers to common questions that individuals have about membership with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM):

How do I update my contact information with the AASM?

The easiest way to update your information is to log in to the Members Only section of the AASM Web site. Before you log in for the first time you must register to create a username and password. After you log in simply click on the “My Account” link and then click on the “Edit Information” link.

Where can I find my member number?

You can find your member number in these places: on the membership card that was mailed to you when you first joined, on your renewal invoice, and on the “My Account” screen when you log in to the Members Only section of the AASM Web site.

I want to renew my membership online, but I forgot my login information for the Web site. How can I get my login information?

Send an e-mail to the membership department with your full name and you will receive an e-mail reply with your login information.

If I join the AASM in the middle of the year, will my membership last for the next 12 months?

No. Memberships expire at the end of December and must be renewed for the upcoming year. New members who join between October and December get the remainder of the current year and a full year of membership for the upcoming year.

I live outside of the U.S. If I become a member, will I still receive print copies of the two journals?

Residents of Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico receive print copies of the journals. Residents of other countries can receive print copies of the journals by paying an additional $60 postage fee. All members also have full, online access to the journals.

I never received a recent journal issue. How do I get a copy of that issue?

You should first verify that the AASM has your correct mailing address. Visit the AASM Web site and enter your login information. Select “My Account” and verify that your address is correct.

You can send a claim for a missing issue within 60 days of that issue’s publication date. Fax your claim to (708) 492-0943 or mail it to this address:

If I update my address in my member account on the AASM Web site, will the journals automatically come to my new address?

Yes. The journals will be delivered to the address that you update in your AASM Member Account. You should update your address as soon as possible to ensure that the delivery of your journals is uninterrupted. If an issue is not delivered to you during the move, you can send in a claim to receive the missing issue.

Do you accept PO’s as payment for membership?
