Applications are being accepted for the SUNY Downstate PRIDE Summer Institute Program to Increase Diversity in Behavioral Medicine and Sleep Disorders Research. The PRIDE Summer Institute, which is an all-expense-paid research career advancement opportunity sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), will support 12 trainees from underrepresented minority backgrounds and those with disabilities.

Trainees will spend two weeks during two consecutive summers in New York City, in addition to a mid-year session, participating in a mix of didactic sessions, grant writing and grantsmanship workshops, and special conferences conducted by well-established behavioral and sleep medicine investigators from across the nation. Each trainee will be matched with a mentor to establish long-term research collaborations. The PRIDE Summer Institute will convene at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., from July 31 to Aug. 13, 2011. The application deadline is April 1, 2011.
