AASM Accreditation for Non-Medicare DME Suppliers is granted to suppliers that illustrate compliance with all of the AASM Standards for Non-Medicare DME Supplier Accreditation. This process includes the completion of an accreditation application and supporting documentation, a site visit, approval and reaccreditation.
Suppliers seeking AASM Accreditation for Non-Medicare DME Suppliers must complete the application for DME accreditation. The application includes a self-assessment checklist indicating general compliance with all of the Standards. Applicants are also required to submit supporting documentation including staff information, policies and procedures and a number of reports related to a review of the applicant program.
Completed applications are sent to the national office for review. If the application indicates substantial compliance with the current Standards, the DME supplier will be approved for a site visit; in some cases, additional information may be requested prior to site visit scheduling. Site visitors are qualified sleep professionals specially trained in DME supplier accreditation. The site visit generally begins at 8am and lasts approximately 4-6 hours.
Following the site visit, the site visitor submits a report of compliance and non-compliance with the AASM Standards for Non-Medicare DME Supplier Accreditation. The AASM Board of Directors is responsible for granting accreditation based on the recommendation of the site visitor and the Accreditation Committee. The DME supplier will receive notice of accreditation status from the Board of Directors.
