DME Accreditation Standards
Since 1977, the AASM has served as the gold-standard for the accreditation of sleep facilities. In November 2009, a Durable Medical Equipment Supplier Accreditation Task Force was assembled by the AASM to create a non-Medicare DME supplier accreditation program, and in April 2010, the AASM Board of Directors approved the AASM Standards for Non-Medicare DME Supplier Accreditation.
The requirements set forth in these Standards have been developed to ensure that sleep disorder patients receive the highest quality of care during all stages of their treatment.

AASM Standards for Non-Medicare DME Supplier Accreditation
The AASM Standards for Non-Medicare Supplier Accreditation have been modeled after the quality standards developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and were developed for the primary purpose of ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered to sleep disorders patients. Areas in which a supplier must demonstrate compliance include:
Facility and Equipment
Practice Standards and Procedures
Consumer Services
Equipment Delivery & Set-up
Follow-up
And More
Contact the AASM national office for more information about standards for AASM center accreditation.
