The National Institutes of Health (NIH) last week announced it received $10.4 billion through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which was signed into law by President Obama. The funds will be used to create and retain jobs through health-related research funding and to develop research infrastructure.

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) announced it will support supplemental funding through three initiatives:

  • Revision Applications (formerly known as Competitive Supplements) Support for a significant expansion of scope or research protocol of currently-funded projects.
  • Administrative Supplements Support for an increase in temp of currently-funded projects within the general scope of the project.
  • Administrative Supplements to Provide Summer Research Experience for Students and Science Educators Support for summer research opportunities for high school and college students or science educators.

The application deadline for the supplemental initiatives is April 21, 2009. Learn more about each initiative and download application information from the NIH Web site.
