On June 24, Florida Senate Bill 1986 was signed into law by Governor Charlie Crist. This omnibus bill addressing health care fraud amended the 1992 Act that prohibited physicians from referring patients to entities in which the health care provider had a financial interest. Sleep testing referrals were included in this 1992 Act.
The recently enacted law amends the Act to allow a physician to refer a patient for a sleep testing procedure.
