Scoring is one of the largest and most challenging sections of the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) registry exam for sleep technologists. In response to feedback from the BRPT that test takers are struggling with this section of the exam, the AASM has developed four supplementary modules to the Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP) that address this subject.
Each online module, not currently required by the BRPT to sit for the exam, includes more than sixty slides and features extensive illustrations and self-assessment tools. Module topics include:
- Sleep Stages
- Scoring Respiratory Events
- Arousals, EEG Abnormalities, Movements and Cardiac Events
If you have sleep technologists at your facility who are preparing to take the RPSGT exam, ensure that they are fully prepared by encouraging them to complete these online modules. For more information about these supplementary study tools, visit the A-STEP section of the AASM Web site.
