House Democratic leaders this week unveiled final health system reform bill (HR 3962), that they intend to bring to the House floor.

The proposal includes a public health insurance option that would have physicians and other providers negotiate their reimbursement rates directly with the government. The final version of the bill is proposed to be less costly than earlier versions of reform legislation passed by two House committees earlier this year. House Democratic leadership’s goal is to take the bill to the floor by next week, with a final vote before Veterans Day on Nov. 11. Once a bill has passed the House, it will be merged with a Senate version in a conference committee.
