Judy Coy, RN, AASM Director of Coding, Compliance and Accreditation, is scheduled to present a small-group, interactive course Nov. 1–2, 2010, at the AASM national office in Darien, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago). The Comprehensive Evaluation and Management Coding course will provide participants with in-depth coverage of four critical areas related to the practice of sleep medicine: evaluation and management (E/M) services coding, medical record auditing, documentation guidelines review and compliance plan development.

Before joining the AASM in 2009, Judy’s experience included work with the AMA CPT Coding Department, the Medicare Benefit Safeguards Department (Fraud and Abuse) for Illinois and Michigan, Ernst and Young’s Litigation Advisory Services, and the Physician Coding and Compliance Department for Advocate Health Care. Additionally, through her experience editing the AMA publication, CPT Handbook for Office-Based Coding: AMA and CMS Perspectives, and presenting a series of 45 “Train the Trainer” workshops on CPT E/M Codes for the AMA, Judy has developed an expertise in the field of coding and compliance.

Registration for this course will be limited to the first 75 registrants in order to maintain an interactive environment. Sleep center managers and physicians interested in obtaining an in-depth review of E/M coding should plan to register for this course early while space is available; the advanced registration deadline to save on course registration fees is Oct. 4, 2010.
