Dear Members,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I thank all members for their interest in the 2011 Physician Fee Schedule and involvement with the AASM Member Action Network. We appreciate the efforts of many of our members who have reached out to their members of Congress and voiced concern about the proposed cuts.

Late last week the Senate approved HR 5712, The Physician Payment and Therapy Relief Act of 2010, which would postpone the scheduled physician payment cuts for services provided to Medicare beneficiaries from Dec. 1, 2010, to Jan. 1, 2011. However, the House of Representatives still must vote on the bill after it resumes its session Nov. 30, and President Obama must sign it into law.

Since this matter is not resolved yet, I encourage you to contact your elected official in the House of Representatives and urge them to vote in favor of postponing the scheduled cut. Also, please continue to educate your patients about this important issue and encourage them to get involved.

Also, we have updated the FAQ section today, providing more information to our members. Lastly, the final version of the 2011 Physician Fee Schedule should be released next week. Updated information will be sent to members when available.

Thank you for your continued engagement,

Patrick Strollo, MD
President
