A recent Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiative in which Comparative Billing Reports (CBRs) were provided to high-frequency billers of sleep medicine services has called attention to the importance of developing a compliance program at all sleep medicine facilities. In response to requests from our members, the AASM has developed a one-day Compliance Program Development Workshop, to be held Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at the AASM national office in Darien, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago).

The workshop will give attendees the guidance needed to perform an audit of their facility’s billing practices and will provide tools on the development of a compliance program for their facility. For further information about the workshop, or to register, visit the Sleep Education Series portion of the AASM website; the advanced registration deadline to save on registration fees for this workshop is Friday, Aug. 19, 2011. Questions about the workshop can be directed to the AASM meetings department by sending an email to education@aasm.org or by calling 630-737-9768.
