An AASM white paper on how changes in health care delivery might impact the evaluation, management and treatment of patients with sleep disorders was published online in the December issue of the journal SLEEP. The white paper was compiled earlier this year based on reports by an AASM Presidential Task Force on the Future of Sleep Medicine and workgroups of thought leaders in the field. The white paper addresses three key topics: frameworks for healthcare delivery (such as patient-center medical home), patient registries and now outcome measures and tools for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
