The American Sleep Medicine Foundation recently announced the Bridge to K Research Award, a funding opportunity for sleep researchers that have applied for a K grant from the NIH, but are unlikely to be within the NIH funding cutoff. The Bridge to K Research Award increases the likelihood of a successful resubmission by providing scientists with additional time and funding to collect further data and respond to the NIH critique.

The ASMF will award up to two $75,000 Bridge to K Research Grants per year. Awardees with further need can receive up to a full year of additional funding. The award can be used for researcher expenses such as salary support, supplies and institutional overhead. Award recipients will be recognized at SLEEP 2012 in Boston.

The deadline to apply for the Bridge to K Research Award is Wednesday, January 25, 2012. For more details on the how to apply go to the American Sleep Medicine Foundation website.
