The April 15 issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine includes a special article proposing future research needs related to the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.  Potential topics were discussed and prioritized by a panel of 21 stakeholders.  Nine high-priority topics were identified, including the cost-effectiveness of management strategies, evaluation of routine preoperative screening for OSA, and evaluation of the value of having a sleep medicine specialist involved in the diagnosis of OSA.
