Visit the AASM PAC Booth at SLEEP 2013 – which will be located by Registration – to learn more about how you can support the AASM PAC current initiatives to:

  • Enable sleep medicine physicians to provide DME to Medicare patients with sleep apnea;
  • Make sleep screenings a part of the “Welcome to Medicare” preventive visit for beneficiaries entering the Medicare program;
  • Ensure sleep services are covered within each state insurance exchange;
  • Repeal the flawed SGR formula; and
  • Promote the value of federal funding for sleep research.

Members who contribute $50 to the AASM PAC can attend the AASM PAC Breakfast scheduled for Tuesday, June 4 from 7:00-8:00 AM at the Baltimore Hilton Hotel Holiday Ballroom #1-2. AASM members who donate during the meeting will also be eligible to attend.

Representative Andy Harris, MD (R), Congressman from Maryland’s 1st District, will speak at the event. Representative Harris recently was appointed to the prestigious House Committee on Appropriations, and he serves on the subcommittee that oversees expenditures for Health and Human Services. He also participates in the GOP Doctors caucus, which is composed of medical providers in Congress who work to develop patient centered, patient driven healthcare reforms focused on quality, access, affordability, portability, and choice. As a physician (anesthesiologist), the Representative will provide valuable information on the importance of contributing to a political action committee.

Your donation will support the AASM PAC, a bi-partisan political action committee which assists in supporting sleep medicine-friendly legislators and raises awareness of sleep medicine and sleep disorders at the federal level. Contributions can be made only by U.S. residents who are members of the AASM. The AASM PAC will accept donations made with a credit card or personal check, not from an institution or corporate account. Members attending will also be provided a hot breakfast buffet.

Space is limited so please send in your RSVP soon! Agenda and room information will be shared with members soon. If you have any questions regarding the AASM PAC, please contact the AASM at policy@aasm.org. Thank you for advancing the sleep field by supporting the AASM PAC!
