Timothy I. Morgenthaler, MD, is a past president of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and is board-certified in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine.

Dr. Morgenthaler is a professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and serves as the Mayo Clinic patient safety officer. His main clinical interests are sleep-disordered breathing, patient safety, and improving healthcare delivery.

Dr. Morgenthaler completed his fellowship in thoracic diseases and critical care medicine and his residency in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic. He earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School at Dartmouth in Hanover, N. H.
