Last week the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it will extend the deadline for physicians and other eligible professionals to attest to meaningful use for the 2013 reporting year of the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) incentive program. The revised deadline for attestation is March 31, 2014. Attestation for the 2013 reporting year is particularly important because it gives providers the opportunity to avoid the 2015 payment penalty for non-reporting. Providers can attest or register for the EHR program on the EHR Incentives website.
