A representative will be on hand at the AASM PAC booth at SLEEP 2014 to answer your questions about its mission and to educate members about federal initiatives such as the Stark Law exception and Seniors Sleep Campaign. Members can support the AASM PAC by donating online at aasmpac.org or by attending the AASM PAC breakfast at SLEEP 2014. The breakfast, on Tuesday, June 3, from 7-8 a.m, will feature a keynote speech from U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Tickets to the PAC Breakfast are available at the registration booth to AASM members only.
The AASM PAC is the AASM’s bi-partison political action committee which supports sleep medicine-friendly legislators in their Congressional elections. Support from the PAC opens doors for expressing our viewpoints about the need for sleep care services and funding for research. The AASM recently announced that David C. Kuhlmann, MD will serve as the first AASM PAC Chair. In this role, Dr. Kuhlmann will engage with members and lawmakers. Members are can contact Dr. Kuhlmann at policy@aasm.org.
