The likelihood that a patient will receive a physician referral for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) evaluation is influenced by whether the patient inquires about OSA, according to a study in the January issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. According to the authors, the results suggest that interventions targeting community physicians and focusing on increasing patient health literacy may be useful in increasing OSA awareness.
