A study of people with insomnia disorder suggests that daytime hyperarousal is more reliable than nocturnal sleep disturbance as a predictor of prescription sleep aid use, according to results published in the April issue of SLEEP. The authors noted that the findings are consistent with emerging data showing that insomnia is not just a nocturnal sleep disorder, but one characterized by 24-hour arousal.
