Self-reported sleep times are often overestimated, according to a new study published in the October issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM).

Graciela Silva, PhD, MPH, and colleagues found subjective and objective assessments of sleep may be discrepant due to misperceptions and measurement effects.

The important findings of "Relationship Between Reported and Measured Sleep Times: The Sleep Heart Health Study" have been widely reported in the media, including a segment on the health section of ABC’s Web site: www.abcnews.go.com/Health/Story?id=3724882&page=1.
