Last week, the 4th Annual AASM PAC Gathering at SLEEP 2016 in Denver, Colorado, was a resounding success! During the Sunday evening event, 49 AASM leaders banded together to raise more than $5,000 to support sleep friendly legislation that benefits your practice.

The AASM PAC has a tradition of inviting a broad spectrum of bi-partisan lawmakers, regulators, and party officials to speak with active AASM leaders. This year we extend our sincere gratitude to the event’s featured guest, Steve House, who is the chairman of the Colorado Republican Committee. We thank Chairman House for sharing his personal vision for the future of health care in the U.S.

Couldn’t travel to SLEEP 2016? Missed out on joining us? You can still do your part to promote 21st century sleep medicine policy: Access our secure online donation portal to make a contribution to the AASM PAC today.

The AASM PAC is already putting member contributions to good use, as AASM PAC Chair Dr. David Kuhlmann and AASM member Dr. Mark Hickey traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with a host of targeted U.S. lawmakers to propose and advocate for:

  • An exception to the Stark Law for sleep medicine;
  • Expanded access to telemedicine;
  • Awareness of healthy sleep habits in the U.S. Armed Forces;
  • Increased awareness of America’s drowsy driving epidemic; and
  • Expanded OSA treatment access in underserved communities.

Thank you to all of our dedicated physician members who joined us at the 4th Annual AASM PAC Gathering. Interested in getting involved with political advocacy? View our election year goals on the Evolve Sleep website and email us at policy@aasm.org to learn more!
