In 2017 the AASM, along with the American Academy of Neurology, American Thoracic Society and American College of Chest Physicians, will participate in a joint RUC survey on the codes for home sleep apnea testing (HSAT). The survey will collect data on physician time, intensity and medical decision making for codes 95800, 95801 and 95806.
AASM members may be called upon to complete these important surveys, which will help the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) assign accurate reimbursement rates for HSAT services. Surveys will be sent by email in early March 2017.
If you receive a survey and are familiar with providing HSAT services, we encourage you to complete the survey as accurately as possible. Survey participants will have access to an educational video developed by the RUC to better understand how to complete the survey and the purpose of the survey process.
