There are increasing legislative and regulatory issues on the horizon, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) is hosting two sessions at SLEEP 2008 that discuss the importance of local organization and report on current and future health policy issues.

There is a saying that all politics is local, and the AASM is helping its members organize locally with Incorporating a State Sleep Society. This session will be held Tuesday, June 10 from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. in room 337 of the Baltimore Convention Center. Incorporating a State Sleep Society will address the importance and value of forming a state sleep society and also give an overview of the incorporation process.

Members, especially those who are leaders of established state sleep societies, are encouraged to attend State Sleep Society Regulatory Issues & Updates on Tuesday, June 10 from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. in room 337. The latest information on tax regulations as well as state and federal legislative and regulatory issues will be discussed by members of the AASM’s Health Policy and Government Relations Department. The session will also provide updates on legislative initiatives state sleep societies have undertaken in 2007.
