Recently, a number of states have introduced or passed legislation that establishes formal standards for the training and licensure of sleep technologists. Many of these bills require that sleep technologists entering the field matriculate through programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Due to the limited number of CAAHEP-accredited programs in many of these states, alternative educational formats such as online learning must be utilized in the absence of local programs.

East Tennessee State University currently offers a CAAHEP-accredited polysomnography program through which online learning is combined with a clinical training component. Please review the Fact Sheet about this program for further details including application deadlines, tuition costs, and course curriculum.

For more information on the program or how to apply or become a clinical affiliate in your area, please contact Don Samples at (423) 547-4905 or samplesd@etsu.edu.
