Do I need to take the A-STEP Introductory Course?
The AASM recommends that people new to sleep medicine take the Introductory Course. It provides a solid background and basic knowledge important to the field of sleep technology. The A-STEP Introductory Course is not yet required by the BRPT in order to sit for the registry exam. If you plan on taking the registry exam after July 1, 2010, the BRPT may require that you take the A-STEP Introductory Course in advance of sitting for the exam. I’m trying to login to take the Introductory Course Final Exam and the system won’t let me in. Why?
There is a 30 day time limit in which you must complete the final exam. This countdown begins on the day that you create your personal login information. If you have passed the allotted 30 days you will not be allowed to complete the exam.

I failed the Introductory Course Final Exam. What do I do now?
The Introductory Course Final Exam is required in order to complete the course. If you fail the Introductory Course Exam 3 times, or if you fail to pass the exam within the 30 day time limit you have not passed the Introductory Course. You must retake the course in order to have another chance to successfully pass the exam.

I completed the Introductory Course Final Exam/Self-Study Module exam. How do I see which questions I got wrong?
This information is not available. You can take the Introductory Course Final Exam a total of 3 times and you have the ability to take each Self-Study Module exam as many times as necessary to achieve a score of 70% or higher.

Can I pay for the A-STEP Self-Study Modules all at once?
No. The A-STEP Self-Study Modules must be paid for one at a time by credit card online. We do not accept checks or purchase orders. If your employer would like to pay for the modules, you must have them reimburse you or give you access to the company credit card.

Can I print the A-STEP Self-Study Modules?
No. The Self-Study Modules are Flash presentations and cannot be printed. Each module can be accessed multiple times until you have successfully completed the exam at the end. The AASM recommends that students take their time with each module and take notes for review at a later date if necessary.

In what order should I take the A-STEP Self-Study Modules?
The modules can be taken in any order, but can only be taken one at a time.

How long will it take me to complete the A-STEP Self-Study Modules?
It depends. Each module takes approximately 45-90 minutes to complete. However, the AASM recommends that you take your time with each module and take notes to review when you are preparing for the BRPT registry exam.

Can I view the module/take the module exam more than once?
Yes. You can view each module as many times as you like. You may log out and log back in to view the module. There is no limit to the time you can spend on each module. However, once you successfully pass the exam at the end of a module you may not view that module again. You must then move on to the next module.

How do I pass the modules?
In order to pass a module, you must receive a score of 70% or higher on the module exam. If you do not succeed in getting a 70% or higher on the exam, you can take it again. You can take the module exam as many times as you need to score a passing grade.

How do I order a transcript?
When you have completed all fourteen Self-Study Modules, you will be given the option under your account page to order a transcript for a nominal fee. This option will not be available to you until you have completed all fourteen modules.

How do I obtain a receipt for the modules?
When you purchase a module you will be able to print a receipt for that module.

All I see is the exam. Where is the module?
When you purchase a module, it will ask for confirmation that you would like to purchase the exam. The module is included in that exam. When you select the option to begin the exam it will take you to a screen with the exam on the left hand side and the module (Flash Presentation) in the center. You may need to wait a minute for the presentation to load.
