Course Description
The AASM Accredited Sleep Technology Education Program (A-STEP) Introductory Course is an 80-hour comprehensive program for sleep technologists new to the field. The two week course provides participants with the practical skills that are essential for a successful career in the profession of sleep technology and includes a mixture of didactic lectures, online learning, practical exercises and observation at a sleep center.

Course Requirements
- Proof of current Basic Life Support CPR training; and
- Evidence of current tuberculosis screening.
Note: Access to a laptop computer is strongly recommended.
Target Audience
This course is intended for sleep technologists and technicians new to the field and those initiating the process of certification.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to:
- Evaluate patient chart information;
- Demonstrate head measurement and electrode application;
- Diagram the technology of sleep recordings;
- Recognize sleep stages and abnormal respiratory events;
- List common sleep disorders and their treatment; and
- Critique methods to improve sleep studies.
Course Tuition
All Individuals: $4,000.00 (includes the cost of books, access to online learning and the final exam fee)
Continuing Education
The American Association of Sleep Technologists designates this educational activity for a maximum of 80.00 AAST Continuing Education Credits. Individuals should claim only those credits that he/she actually earned in the educational activity.
