Course Description
This course is a 90+ hour comprehensive program for sleep technicians new to the field. The two week course provides participants with the practical skills that are essential for a successful career in the profession of sleep technology and includes a mixture of didactic lectures, online learning, practical exercises and observation at a sleep center.

Course Requirements
- Proof of current Basic Life Support CPR training; and
- Evidence of current tuberculosis screening
Note: This course includes independent online learning. Attendees must have access to a laptop computer that they can bring with them to the course.
Target Audience
This course is intended for sleep trainees and technicians new to the field and those initiating the process of certification.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate patient chart information;
- Demonstrate head measurement and electrode application;
- Diagram the technology of sleep recordings;
- Recognize sleep stages and abnormal respiratory events;
- List common sleep disorders and their treatments; and
- Critique methods to improve sleep studies

The American Association of Sleep Technologists designates this educational activity for a maximum of 94.25 AAST Continuing Education Credits. Individuals should claim only those credits that he/she actually earned in the educational activity.
